Visual Pollution is all about focusing our own visual perception. This idea supports the concept of the video installation… wanting the audience to feel suffocated by simultaneously playing various films and videos by local video and filmmaking practitioners, within one space. This is reflective of the various ideas and opinions we are bombarded with on a daily basis. Moreover, this connotes the struggle within one’s self to understand the diversity of the world we move in. In order to understand and process the assortment of thoughts, we must be able to prioritize and focus on what is deemed important to us as individuals. This concept also promotes the collaboration of dialogues between the artists/filmmakers who are involved in this project.

At siyempre, dahil sila'y magagaling, hangad kong makatrabaho sila uli.
Ang unang siyam ay featured na nung Dec.24 last year [Click to Read Part 1].
AMANDA NAVA * Pink Brownies * Nykto Ang tawag ko sa kanya ay “day” (a Hiligaynon term for “girl”). Hehehe!
Hahaha! Maarte itong si JM. Nung shooting day ng “Nykto”, ayaw n’yang una s’yang isu-shoot.

plus a first look (three-minute clip) of the film Alipo-op Sa Animo
** music for this blog is "Binuligay" by MITU's TRIBE (headed by Mitu Tupas, the original composer of my upcoming full-length film, "Alipo-op Sa Animo". We met way back in Palawan for the Kamarikutan Pagdiwata Festival ran and creatively dirtected by artist and friend, Dinggot Conde Prieto
I'm starting to look at photos of possible actors for my next work after I finish my 2nd full-length "Atomika Settlement: Devastation Canvas 5".
Meanwhile, a date (FINALLY!!!) has already been picked for the exclusive private screening of my first full-length, "Alipo-op Sa Animo". Its new teaser will be released during the Holy Week. Check this site for updates.
My next two works will both center on gay issues (nope, I'm not joining the hype --- 'coz both will be different) and one of them will feature "high-flying action scenes". Hahaha! Yep, I'm serious. (I have long dreamt of doing my own martial arts film. Not to mention, this has been thought about way back in 2004.) So I'm currently in the look out for "chinito" teens who have very flexible bodies. If you know of college students who might be interested (between the ages of 17 to 23), message me with (links to) their photos. Send your messages & photos to: i@elvertb.com or anthony_jayvee_elvert@yahoo.com
Also in May 2008, the shorts "Diktum" and "Huling Paalam ng Diablo" will start shooting.

::: Visual system is part of the nervous system which allows organisms to see. It interprets the information from visible light to build a representation of the world surrounding the body. The visual system has the complex task of (re)constructing a three dimensional world from a two dimensional projection of that world. The psychological manifestation of visual information is known as visual perception.
Pollution is the introduction of pollutants (whether chemical substances, or energy such as noise, heat, or light) into the environment to such a point that its effects become harmful to human health, other living organisms, or the environment.
“Visual pollution is a man walking outside the realms of his own home looking up, down, then up again…at buildings, billboards, celebrities endorsing a new super product and the sky, colored dark gray, sometimes red and violet or violent greenish looking buses along the Ortigas Avenue. It is the man wearing his ragged clothes then her skinny pants… walking along the intersection of Cubao, meeting once or maybe two hundred times before and not even glimpse nor a smile on their faces. It is the weird looking overpass wherein you can almost bump your head if you are 5’10" tall to the support system of the MRT. Or it is the insides of your lovely home where everything was bought out of necessity… you can’t hardly see through you.”
Visual pollution is walking blindly… in a simulated world, created by our own visual perception, that this is the better Philippines. Going somewhere familiar, even a minute or two, or worst, going someplace where the only way of communicating to your loved one is trough a cellular phone or the World Wide Web.”
