Mailing the "Until" Masters [2 of 2]
[continued from a previous album exclusive only to very close friends]
The sun is up when I took a rare trip to the national post office located at Lawton, Manila. It's a short trip from where I live (thank God!) and based on the photos in this album, you already have an idea how many people send snail mails. Look!!! The post office looks like it's deserted. (I used to mail stuff here and I have observed a considerable decrease in human sightings). But I like this old building - its structure, the ventilation, the way sunlight peeps through the huge pillars, etc.
Snail mail is something I miss so much and I still continue writing letters from time to time. It's something many of the kids today do not appreciate. Receiving stuff by snail mail is always exciting for me. And replying (or sending something back) is always fun and memorable. The effort, the licking of the stamps, the act of dropping the letters/packages at the mailboxes....these can't be duplicated by mouse clicks, online inboxes or even by animated gifs. (plus the staff at the post office are still familiar faces - they flashed wide smiles during my visit and they're always friendly to me! Oh but I told them that one of them might be enjoying Swan Dive music by this time - Bill knows exactly what I mean by this.)
Until....is coming very soon.
[tomorrow: After the mailing, I went to Intramuros --- again!!! --- and made my first trip to Manila Zoo in years!!!]
